PostMon Aug 06, 2012 9:25 pm My first voyage I have been working on the 2550 I bought a couple of weeks ago and finally got her into the water today. Was going to try yesterday but the wind was up too high for my comfort level for a first trip. I got her all ready and then waited until this morning. Of course this morning I decided to change o...

PostSat Apr 02, 2022 7:40 pm storage boxes I don’t have an answer on size but after going thru this on multiple boats I only buy the boxes that have a gasket and latches that dog down and seal the compartments . Hooks and tackle are getting too expensive to let them get corroded these days and the higher quality boxes are worth the extra $5 ...

PostWed Sep 28, 2022 11:41 am 3000 express water in cabin In my case the carpet and other leaks seemed to be mostly from the windshield. I replaced the black rubber screw cover all around. Rebedded all the screws holding it down. Including the holes for the whipper motor and then put a good bead of caulk around the base of the window on the outside. I also...

PostThu Sep 29, 2022 11:26 am 3000 express water in cabin It's an area where the balsa core starts/finishes and there could be a cavity inside for water to travel through. The hand layered glass in that area may not have been finished properly and be porous. I had exactly the same issue very close to where yours is. Is your anchor locker drain blocked? Att...

PostThu May 14, 2020 12:19 pm 3000 Express Side Vent Core Repair Absolutely on the photos. And, just a FYI, only because you used the term "epoxy," there is a difference between "polyester" and "epoxy." They don't act the same and have different applications, so we have to be careful which one we use. There is a Youtube channel calle...

PostFri Aug 07, 2020 12:28 pm Fish Box Drains I have a 2015 325 os and the fish box drains never worked. I discovered the drain line has a tee in it to the generator hatch drain. The tee has to be above the boats water line to drain, otherwise it creates an air lock. I was able to reroute the hoses that were there, and not add any new hose. Now...

PostTue Feb 15, 2022 9:17 pm 3000 Express Rudder Repair Posted over on THT, too. Dropped the rudders out of my boat to change the shaft seals due to a slow annoying leak. Found some pitting and crevice corrosion where the seal rides on the rudder post. I plan to build up the area with weld and machine / polish back to size. Any ideas what material the po...

PostThu Jul 14, 2022 5:57 am Merc 350 Horizon Fuel Pumps My engines have the Cool Fuel Gen 3 modules. They are mounted on the starboard side of the engines and of course the starboard pump failed. Changed pumps with Merc parts. Pump is noticeably quieter than the other now. Problem solved. Broke 3 or 6 bolts off and had to drill them out and helicoil to f...

PostTue Sep 27, 2022 3:05 pm Fish Box Drains Same issue on my 2016 OS385. I ended up taking out the little plastic screens in the actual drains themselves. It seems to have helped. One pf the issues is that the actual thru-hulls are on the bottom of the boat. I don't know why they didn't just put them right above the water line or T them in to...

PostFri Dec 23, 2022 11:14 am 2002 Pursuit 3000 Express with water in the cabin As BNC said above. I have placed a bilge plug in the tube between the engine room and cabin. I took out all the lower rubber at the base of the windshield frame, and removed all the screws one at a time and put them back bedded in silicone. Leak stopped.

PostSun Feb 11, 2018 11:39 am FLIR M232 Picked up the mast Saturday from the powder coater. It looks great, glad I went that way instead of painting it myself. Now I will fit all the gear to it and wait for spring.

PostThu Jan 03, 2019 3:01 pm 1990 2650 - Fuel Tank Replacement Hello - new to the forum and hoping to get some info from those who may have done this previously. I have a 1990 2650 Cuddy with (2) 115 gallon fuel tanks. Both tanks have leaks and need to be replaced. It looks like the deck will need to be cut in order to access the tanks, as there are no access p...

PostWed May 02, 2018 9:54 pm Powder Coating T Top and Bow Rail Hello David. I had a small aluminum mast powder coated a couple of months ago. To get those items powder coated you have to take them off the boat. I am not sure if stainless can be powder coated but either way those items would also need to fit inside the oven to be heated up. The way it works in c...

PostTue Mar 05, 2019 9:16 pm raw water pumps on 4BTAs Things are moving forward on the engines. Had valve jobs on both engines and new after coolers are coming. One thing that has bothered me as long as I have owned this boat is changing the raw water pumps. They are mounted on the left side of the engine under the injection pump. To change them you ha...
