Are you guys trying to take out the screws? You may need to take a hacksaw blade and cut slots across the top of each screw. Then soak them with some penetrating fluid (PB Blaster) and give it a go.

This is a gas tank right? I would be very afraid to drill into the screws, and then to tap different holes? 2 steps forward 2 steps back. Got word from mechanic yesterday that in order to get cutless bearing off the shafts the rudder must come back out :banghead: :-(

Oh well supposed to go in hoist tomorrow and he is going to do the bearings and get her wet. Or so I hope

Recently purchased a 2001 3000 Express that needs general TLC. Bought in FL, brought back to Ohio. Working on replacing all of the plastic thru Hull fittings with stainless. What a fun project! 4041 Only pic I have on me at the moment, as you can see all the PVC piping is gone as is all the wiring and the hot and cold pex lines that blocked access to the front of the engines.I will post some more if theres interest Next time you are in the engine room I would love to see some more picture...

Good luck with the project, you will have a great boat when you are done. I did my stripes a few years back but changed them both to black, one thick and the top one thin. Before I pulled them off using a heat gun, I ran a piece of masking tape around the hull to use as a guide putting them back on ...
