New member - 2200 Cuddy Cabin looking to upgrade

Howdy all. New joiner in the Northeast Ohio area. I have a 1987 2200 Cuddy Cabin with single 225 Evinrude OB and 9.9 kicker. Mostly use the boat for walleye fishing on Lake Erie, so we troll a lot in the summer time. Also catch yellow perch, steelhead, smallmouth bass.

My old 225 Evinrude is a smoky gas hog so I'm thinking this might be the last year with this boat. We are 2nd owners, and have owned it for the last 5 or 6 years. It's been a good first boat, but I'd like something with better fuel economy and the latest functional upgrades.

I'd like to move up to a new model, mid 2000's with newer, more efficient OB in the 23-25 foot range so I can still trailer it around Lake Erie. I am thinking about moving into a center console, for the extra fishing room since I don't really use my current cuddy to overnight anywhere. I do like the cuddy for storing my gear, though.

Which brings me to this question: is there anyone out there that can tell me anything about the center consoles with the cuddy in the front? I know there's a 2670, but are there any other sizes? What years were they made? Did they stop making them due to a lack of demand or performance? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Thanks and glad to be aboard!

Welcome to PBO!

I know that they made a 2870 CC with a forward cuddy but I'm not sure about other sizes. The one I saw was a 1996 I think.

Welcome to the board Have you considered repowering with a 4 stroke. Might be a great way to achieve your goals.

PS Shop the repower hard I have seen anywhere from $15K for just the motor so figure $5K for controls and install to people reporting $30K plus quotes for a single YAMI 250 4 stroke....

Thanks for the welcomes and the replies.

I've considered the re-power idea. I've seen some used E-TECs for around $10K. But then I've got as much tied up in my motor as I do in my boat. I'm thinking I would clean this boat up and sell as is, then use that toward a newer boat with newer power, newer features, etc.

I did a little more research on the 2670. I like the forward cuddy for dry storage of rods and trolling equipment, etc. And, in a pinch, I could sack out in there, maybe. It's a little larger than I want, though. It sure looks nice, though. Been looking at the features of the one on ebay. Currently the 2670 is still in the Pursuit archives.
