New Member, 1999 3000 Express Diesel

Hello all you Pursuit owners. This is my 4th boat and second Pursuit. My 1st Pursuit was a 1996 2800 twin v-8 inboard. I got this 1999 in 2003 with about 95 hours on it. Now at about 400. We are located out on the Peconic Bay on the North Fork of Long Island. I have done a lot of work on this boat and would be glad to share any info I have. I have just replaced the cutlass bearings and now I have to replace the shaft seals. After calling Tides Marine ( the seal maker) I found that my model seal carrier is no longer made. But they gave me a great deal to buy two new design units and get 50% back when I sent the old ones back. I also have taken out the bronze shaft logs and am putting in fiberglass logs. This will give me more space and allow for spare shaft seals to be mounted now. Also have a Tides Marine Isoflex gear guard to put in between the shaft couplings. This will absorb some engine vibes and should I hit something it will shatter before transmission damage occurs. Had the props checked this winter and there was not a blade among both of them that had the same pitch!

Thank you gents. Tripper, you have no idea how we are looking forward to summer. I like winters but this past one was a monster!
Mark, I have a friend looking at a 2004 30 Offshore with the same engines. How do you rate your boat and engines?

they are fair, I am sure if I had deep pockets we would run faster and burn less with new Cummings, but they are very dependable. We take her up to Block Island and up the Hudson to West Point with no issues at all. The boat is great, we did a lot of research before buying it and it fits my needs and business perfect. We just had the engines rebuilt in 2009-10 and no issues since

Hey Cap, when you go up to West Point where do you fuel up? I would like to make that trip. Are there places to stay and fuel up that way?

yes a few places around Haverstraw which is maybe 5 or 10 miles below West Point and actually thats where we stayed
