Mufflers

New member and first time post. I have a 1999 3000 express with twin 357 mercruiser gas engines. Has anyone out there installed additional mufflers to dampen the engine exhaust noise? Seems like the existing mufflers are under the steps at the gunnels (assumed) No Access. Can something be added to the exhaust in the engine room after the “Y” fittings? I have maybe 8-10” max.
