radar installation 2470

Postby Johnny01 » Tue May 04, 2021 5:40 pm

hello,
I have a 2470 WA and want to install a garmin radar on the hardtop. Is there a way to snake the wiring down the T-top tubing? Looking for any suggestions or advice!
Thanks,
John

The short answer is yes. I worked for a couple of tuna tower companies in southeast Florida. We used a steel nut on a heavy string inside the hardtop pipe and a large strong magnet on the outside of the pipe. The magnet was used to pull the nut and string from the top of the pipe to the bottom. It worked very well. once you have the string inside the pipe, tie it to your wire and cables, use plenty of wire lube, and pull the wires thru. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the help- So anyone who might own a 2470 WA did you pull the cables through the tubing or just run it down the side of the tubing?
