I put a deposit down on an 02 3070 with F225 4 strokes. Having the survey done in a few days. Also having the motors checked by a Yammi mechanic. Can anyone give me some heads up on certain isuues to look for with this model boat?

Remove and borescope the exhaust components...they have a strong history of being badly corroded on 2002's of that model....it's a $6-7K repair, btw. I caught it thanks to my mechanics heads up....dropped my price by $6500...the owner choked, but had no choice, as the damage was now revealed, his broker saw it, and they could not sell the boat without disclosing the issue, or rick lawsuit.

Thanks for the heads up. We spoke before on THT. I had the boat surveyor in the morning and only found one thru hull cracked, Yam mechanic came around noon and that's when things went south. Both motors had severe corrosion. Ran engines in a tank. Neither would get to operating temp all 4 thermostats bad. Leak down test showed 30 percent on 2 cylinders on port motor, may have just had carbon build up. Starboard motor had nearly 50 percent in one cylinder. Mechanic warned me it may be something more than carbon build up. Perhaps cracked ring? Owner offered to take 2 grand off of price. I really liked the boat but the engines were too much in question. I walked away. Very disappointed because these models are difficult to find. I hope another comes along.
