3070 walk around rod storage hatch lifter broken

HAve 2000 3070 walk around hatch lifter makes noise but no lift .any ideas on how to open it to replace. Also how long is the actuator so I can be ready.

Job is done .Was told to force it open.Heres how to do it .Remove one of the tackle drawers under the seat.Pull the pin on the top of the actuator.Use a 2x3 and a few short blocks of wood to raise the hatch and block open.Remove the old actuator.The old actuator has a 14 inch stroke.It is not made anymore.You replace it with a 12"stroke actuator.The top bracket must be lowered 4 inches.You must drill 3- 1/4 inch holes 4 inches below the old bracket.Its between the tackle drawers.Crimp the two wires.Done
