Electronics Upgrade

Postby MarathonPursuit » Fri Jul 06, 2012 10:54 pm

I have a 2000 Pursuit 2860 Denali. I want to upgrade the electronics and am looking for suggestions. I was thinking of the Raymarine C120w. I want a good transducer and will upgrade to the 3D Navionics charts. I take my boat to the Florida Keys every year for a few weeks for fishing. I will be retiring soon and will probably also take it to Mexico for fishing. Any ideas would be appreciated. I am currently living in India and cannot get to a dealer for suggestions.

I went with Geonav. You should check them out. They are owned by Johnson Outdoors.

I like the Raymarine also, but have had good service from Garmin units also. In fact if I had to change my 1999 electronics I would get the Garmin 740s. Small but nice.

Thanks, I will check it out but small is a problem. Us older guys want bigger screens that are a little easier to see.

Both those makers have large screen models and I don't think you could go wrong with either.. I like the 740S since it would fit in the old spot. Not changing anything yet. The C 120 is a very nice unit.

I just upgraded to the Raymarine C127. I like the physical looks of the unit and it fit good in my helm. I replaced an old Raymarine A65. All I had to do was cut a bigger hole and hook my transducer to it. I like the fact it has a built in sonar and gps. Again all I did was mount it, hook up the power, and plug in my transducer. I would like to have a side scan product on my boat one day. I think it's cool to look at at least.

I really like the Navionics plus charts I bought. The C127 has locked up on me a few times when messing with the menu buttons. I don't know if that is a software problem or if it's a problem with my unit. It has not locked up while in operation though. Only when I've been pushing the buttons on the home screen. WEIRD!!!

I tried to attach a sonar screenshot but for some reason this site only allows photos under 200kb. That must be something new since I know I've poster larger pictures in the past.
