3000 Express Overhead Liner

Postby CGaviator » Sat Mar 16, 2013 1:42 pm

Does anyone have experience removing the cabin overhead liners? I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting any water intrusion though the hatches and just see what's between the liner and the deck.

3000 Express Overhead Liner

I have not seen the boat since fall, but I had some water come in through the windshield base. I had to take out the rubber from the windshield and side windows and remove all the screws and shoot in some silicone and re-install the screws. Then put the rubber trim back in. It stopped all water leaks. The headliner in the aft part of the cabin did have some damage and I ended up gluing it back.. There are about 4 screws holding it up also. from what I remember. I will be going out there in a month and can get more info if needed.

3000 Express Overhead Liner

Thanks. I have what appears to be a bit of sagging overhead liner right above the galley where it meets the bulkhead. I want to drop that panel and see what I find. It looked like only a few screws covered with the buttons holding it up but I'm notorious for breaking things by pulling too hard so I wanted to find out if there were any hidden clips before I started yankimg

I think what you are going to find is whatever the base is under the material (luan plywood?) is rotted awat from water leaking in from the windshield base.. Maybe up to a few inches from the outer edge. That is what I found anyway. It is not all that bad and I think the only way to fix it is to pull the headliner down. I may do that some day and replace it with a perforated white material.

That's what I expect to find but we'll see. I saw some overhead mounted drop down bunks on a hydrasport and I was thinking of installing one of those eventually.
