1996 pursuit 2600 stuffing box access

Looking at a 2600 center console.marina tells me that checking or replacing stuffing box material going to be expensive as access is very difficult
Is this true ?
What is the best access for this routine maintenance issue?

Take a picture of your shaft log and post it. Unless you can't see it or have to work undersole blindly with your hands, it shouldn't be an issue

One of my buddies had a 2600 for a few years ago before the wife made him get a cuddy instead of a center console. That was probably the best riding single inboard I have ever been on. As I remember the two stern recessed floor boxes come up allowing access to the shaft log and rudder log. He had the gas engine and it seemed like it wasn't a big deal to get access to re-pack the rudder log or replace the shaft seal. His already had a dip-less shaft seal on it when bought. I bet the diesel engine model has a lot less room but from my memory it seemed like the gas model had adequate room. If the boat has a shaft log I strongly recommend replacing it with a dip-less log, if will pay for itself in the long run.

I have replaced shaft seals and rudder logs on old 27 and 29 Tiaras where the marina said it would be a pain to do because of poor access. In both cases it was not and just took a little extra time wiggling around to get yourself in the right position.
