OS 345 Cockpit cooler/freezer not working

Postby dargh1 » Fri Jan 22, 2016 1:08 pm

I have a problem with the cockpit freezer of a os 345 , it doesn´t cool down , I hear the compressor is turned on but the freezer doesn´t cool. No way to get the freezer out, so I'm looking for where is the compressor to check if the gas pressure is fine, but can´t find it , does someone has the diagram of where it is or knows where it located? And how to get there?

OS 345 Cockpit cooler/freezer not working

I too am having trouble with this on my 2013 model 345OS. It has a mechanical thermostat located in the stainless box, cork at the bottom. Have located a plywood shelf underneath it through the side access hole which also accesses the 172 gallon starboard fuel tank routing control valves. No evidence of any plumbing other than the center drain in the bottom. No evidence of any wiring. Will return in 2 weeks with a USB camera on a 5 meter cable to push it around in there but I in no way can see any form of compressor anywhere, just this plywood shelf that seems to indicate it could've lived there at one time. I'm also planning to pull out the storage box located behind the captains chair within the helm AC unit area to see if it could be there somewhere. Pulled out the helm inlet AC filter vent and saw the AC compressor, no evidence of additional hardware anywhere in that cavity, just blower inlet and duct work out. I have 12VDC breaker and 120VAC breaker in the generator panel for a Cockpit refrigerator, toggling the 120VAC doesn't change the wattage draw for the boat on shore power, but it also doesn't appear to be running at all if its present at all. Having read everything I can find easily on the internet, it would seem the logical place for this compressor requiring some air flow would possibly be the mechanical area located in the center of the floor with the generator, auto transformer (240vac->120VAC), all of the seacocks, seawater pumps and strainers, fuel filters, and blower. But no obvious compressor unit. If anyone had a picture of their 2013 or similar installation setup I would greatly appreciate it. Attached is a picture under my cockpit cooler unit with the drain hose for the cooler marked and the fuel shut off valves labeled.
