3000 express hull vent

New to the forum--I just purchased a 2000 3000 Express. Any specific information on technique/tools/tricks to remove the engine room vents (oscillating tool, razor knife, heat (?)) would be greatly appreciated!

I am not sure of that, but keep in mind that you can not get replacement vents from Pursuit as the molds were destroyed. I believe they were secured using 5200. Why are you taking them out, softness in the hull there?

I would recommend that anyone who has an a Pursuit model with these side vents to pull them off and re-seal. As good a boat as Pursuit makes, I can't believe what a half azzed install job they did on the side vents, leaving the core exposed. I pulled (very carefully) the STB side vent off and the core was soaked there also.


When pulling off, how do you dry/protect the core prior to re-installing. From what ive seen its just an open exposed core edge in between the two layers of glass...Wondering how to properly fix it. Also, is there a trick to pulling them out. Worried I may snap them. Dont want to run the risk of them falling off one day.

How do you guys clean the wood and ensure its protected once the vents are removed. Do you use 5200 to install the vents back in place? And how do you pull it off without risk of cracking?
