Scupper Drain

Postby Robert Chapman » Wed May 30, 2018 8:25 am

We have just purchased a 2017 DC 295. The starboard scupper drain seems to be plugged. I am tempted to try a snake to clear it, but I don't know how it is is plumbed in - i.e. whether or not there is a flap valve that I might damage with the snake or if there are sharp bends that might block or trap the snake. Has anyone had to clear a plugged scupper drain and if so, how did you do it?

Thanks!

Bob

Robert, I am in the process of purchasing a Pursuit DC265 and have the very same issue, but it is the drain hole under the forward deck hatch....the previous owner had a dog that shed into every scupper and drain hole on the boat....I really hope we get some advise from the forum members.....hey out there how about some kind words of wisdom....;-)

Scupper Drain

Postby Diversion » Tue Nov 03, 2020 7:16 pm

just had that same issue with my recently purchased dc325 2016. Had to lay on the floor look back to the drain elbow and loosen the hose clamps and remove the elbow. on all my floor hatches the clog was in that 90 deg connection. I cleaned out fish chum, hair, old cheetos all compacted in the elbow. Cleaned them all out reinstalled and tightened clamps.
As far as the original post above not sure about the deck drains and the scuppers. I would try a claw grabber thingie. (buy one at Harbor freight for like $3)
Hope that helps.
Cheers :usa:
