2002 Pursuit 3000 Express with water in the cabin

Postby BostonPursuiter » Fri Dec 23, 2022 6:43 am

Hi guys,

I just bought a 2002 pursuit 3000 Express with 350s and am pumped to have the boat. Only problem is there is mold everywhere and water getting into the cabin. Not sure if there is common places for the water to enter. I am covering the boat this week and going to start taking apert the overhead to see if I can find any and all leaks.

Are there very common places for water to get into the cabin and creat all this mold?

Thanks Rich

1. Forward bilge. The engine room bilge will flow forward into the cabin bilge. Most of us have plugged the hole to prevent the water.

2. Windshield wiper wire passage. The wiper power wires run down the channel on the windshield frame into the cabin, allows water to enter the cabin and drip on top of the headliner.

As BNC said above. I have placed a bilge plug in the tube between the engine room and cabin. I took out all the lower rubber at the base of the windshield frame, and removed all the screws one at a time and put them back bedded in silicone. Leak stopped.

Thanks for the input! Once the boat is covered I will start at the windshield and will make sure to plug the bilge leading into the cabin. Appreciate the information.

This is exactly what I did and fixed issues. The trim can be purchased if you need the part number I can find that somewhere. Tape the base of windows and make a nice bead at the bottom too and she will look real nice

Thanks Woodworker2001Woodworker2001,

The rubber trim is pretty shrunken up and I was going to try to get a new set if I could find it. If you do have the part number that would be great! I would love to order it now in the offseason! Thanks for the help!

Hey Rich its Chris from OCYC congrats on the new boat. I’m sure we will be comparing notes this season.

Would you guys know what size plug to use to close up the forward bilge area?

It was just a standard expanding bilge pug

This is what I find when I search the part number on my receipt. I ordered 23’ and had enough

I contacted Pompanette yesterday and the black trim is discontinued, they only have white now.
