2000 2460 Denali steering.
I purchased a 2000 2460 last summer. very clean, stack kept and it has cable to mercrusier power assist steering. It had no AP
(I fish Erie and troll) so I added Lowrance electronics with the system auto pilot and helm. I replaced the cable to the actuator so all parts are new to there. My issue is the amount of wheel rotation to get a positive response from the stern drive.I've been on boats with cable to mercrusier out drives and is was very positive. I downsized from a 27' Albemarle with twin Volvo DP drives with hydraulic steering so this is a transistion I know. So, is this what I should expect? If not then could it be a worn actuator, 705 hrs. on the boat, one owner, 5.7L and it runs great for my purposes. If I can't solve this I'll convert to direct hydraulic as Iv'e done it on a 20' and 28' boats. Iv'e also seen online a second actuator that piggy backs on the OEM unit.
I look forward to hearing from owners with experience, thank you all.
