Water in Cabin Bilge

Postby joeshoes » Thu Dec 01, 2011 5:39 pm

:argh:

I have an Express 3000 (1999). A month ago I found water over the teak and holly floorboards in the main salon. First I cannot figure out how it got in there and then I could not get the water out. The is no way, that I know of, to lift the teak and holly flooring and there is no access port. Unfortunately the teak and holly is now discolored with the water.

Finally took it our for a run and left it bow up for a long time and it drained to the stern and i pumped it out.

Anyone have this problem? Anyone install an access port?

Water in Cabin Bilge

Joe I am not sure how it got in and we have had input before on this subject. There is one area that nobody has mentioned yet. The a/c unit has an overboard discharge that is behind the starboard rear seat cushion. Mine had cracked some time ago and water started coming in. I was just lucky to catch it in time. The thru hull is not visible from the engine room, and frankly I did not think I was missing it until I needed the a/c serviced. They spotted the leak.

One other area that gave me problems before that I forgot about. The water hose connections at the sinks in the head and galley area. I kept finding water in the forward bilge. But I never looked when the water system was pressurized. I started to notice some watermarks around the hoses inside the cabinets and when I turned on the system I saw some leaks. Nothing big, just enough to weep under pressure. Nothing was broken, it was lust in need of tightening after 10 plus years. Maybe these ideas will help.
