Soft deck, C 280, 2007

Hi there...the deck on the port side right behind the live well (above the fuel tank) has developed a very large soft spot. It just appeared this year, and the only thing different I've been doing this year vs the past 3-4 years has been using the live well. It could just be a coincidence, but I'm wondering if there is any way leaks from the live well (which appears to be functioning perfectly well) could somehow get into the core of the deck? Or, does anybody have any other ideas? My son is a naval architect/marine engineer and he and I are thinking of fixing this ourselves (he's good at this), but I'm wondering about the cause. Thanks!
