2870 air conditioning

I live in Michigan and last fall bought an 04 2870. I want to add air conditioning. Does any one have any pictures on the ducting runing through the port storage area? Also if i had pictures of the vent locations, and water pickup, and what they did with the condensate drain. Do you think 5000 btu is large enough? Any info and pictures would be appreciated. I tried pursut, and they basically said take it to an air conditioning place.

Adding AC retroactively to a boat is never easy as the duct work, electric, and the cooling water all become issues. If you were to find a similar boat that has had it done, it really makes the job easier since you just copy it.
I was in the marine business for many years and always farmed out AC installations to the experienced guys who have done many more than I did. I did install AC on my own boats and hated every minute dealing with the issues above.
Installing a simple 5000 BTU unit in a small boat will place the unit under a seat or bunk. The noise will be hard to get used to. Split units are much quieter but your boat probably has no space. 8000 BTU would be better, but there are formulas to guide you to the correct size.
I live in Florida now and AC is a must, impossible to sleep without. When I worked in NY, AC was only needed in July and August. So, perhaps one of those units that attach to your hatch or a portable unit with the intake attached to your port might be a cheaper alternative. Installing AC would have to be close to $3000 or more, depending on your dockside elec panel and the through hull connection needed for cooling.
I do agree that AC is worth every penny when it gets hot.

Pursuit was 0 help. Talked to some guy who said maybe 8000 btu but maybe 5000 btu. His recomendation was for me to take it to a air conditioning guy.

A friend has a 2870 with factory A/C, I know he has two vents, one at V-berth and one in mid-berth on starboard side, makes it a meat locker. I think its a crusair 5-7k, smallest they make in AC power. Don't have any pics, but I might could get some eventually. PM me if you really need them. I would look on boattrader/yachtworld, see if any for sale boats have pics of the A/C. His boat is a ICEBOX with it on. AC is mounted under the V-berth. A/C through hull and pump mounted in back under the folding seat and lift out box, with the other pumps and what not.

Get a 6k Vector Series(Dometic/MarineAir/Cruisair), would be more than ample. I have a 7k in a 3000 Offshore.

Thanks for the reply. The only information I need is the location of the duct that runs through the port storage locker. Like to know how far it is from the hull , or is it right in the middle.
