yamahas trimming up on their own

Postby Maxsajenda » Thu May 16, 2013 8:43 pm

1999 pursuit 2870 center console with 225 os 66 engines.
The motors trim up on their own...It burned up the trim motor and relay($600.00) on the port engine while in transit on the trailer. Now I notice the starboard engine is doing it. I was in the boat on the trailer so I could stop it. It seems that the individual switches on the throttle are the problem. Does any one have a test protocol or any ideas?

I had the same problem on a boat a friend of mine had. It turned out that the switches on the motor was causing it. One motor came up out of the water while on plane!

Did you replace it or eliminate it and how did you test to find it.

Replaced it. You could feel it stick when you would use it. You could disconnect it and see if it still does it
