Windshield leak 2470

Postby buckeye2 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 3:25 pm

Had a recent hard rain and noticed a leak in the cabin. It appears to be the windshield where it meets on the outside of the cabin on the starboard side. I had rebedded the windshield screws last year and replaced the black stripping on the windshield. Does anyone have any of these conditions that they have fixed? Any feed back would be appreciated. Windshield leak 2470

Postby heydad » Wed Jul 10, 2013 9:55 pm

I have a 1996 2870wa that I have owned since new and have been chasing a rain water leak for a couple of years now. I finally found the leak was coming from the screws on the rail stantions.I struggled with removing the screws and rebedding the stantions. I found vertually no bedding compound on the bases of the stantions. After do and redo the water was coming in past the screws themselves. We haven't had any heavy rain recently so I'm not sure I solved it yet. I don't know if you have the same problem but it might be worth a look.

Have you looked at how the windshield wiper wiring is run. On most Pursuit cuddys they drill a hole under the windshield through the fiber glass and run the wiring under the headline. That hole for the windshield wiring leaks on most Pursuit boats and needs to be completed bedded with epoxy.

Windshield leak 2470

Postby second wind » Tue Jun 13, 2017 9:44 pm

After bedding each screw head I still had water intrusion, so I took the head liner down to get a better look and found out the water was coming in from the windshield wiper wires running down the corners of the windshield. I used silicone where the rubber covering the screws had shrunk; and so far the leak has stopped..
