'03 2470WA Rear seat pad removal

Postby DanO6961 » Thu Nov 07, 2013 1:53 pm

Hey Guys-
I was going to replace my coming pads and the small pad that is one the rear seat on top of the fish box. I could not figure out how to get the darned thing off!! Has anyone taken one off before? I thought about cutting an access hole in the bottom of the fish box lid but would rather not. Any ideas?

Thanks!

DanO

Usually they have automotive style push pin fasteners(Christmas tree fasteners) like on a car door panel. Get a trim tool or screw driver to pry it. Be careful not to pull to much on one end as it is usually backed with starboard and can break!

I'm about to do the same on my 07 LS 235 and discovered a variety of fasteners. The aft seat bottom is through-bolted, with the nuts accessible from underneath the fishbox lid. The aft seat back looks like it's attached with automotive push pins as described by Coastal Pursuit, but I haven't actually popped it off yet. The coaming pads simply lift straight up and off -- there are two flat hooks on the gunwale, and the coaming pad has two brackets that slide down over them.
The aft-facing middle seat (backs up to the helm seat) is going to be more fun because I discovered it's through-bolted from behind and the nuts are about 4 feet away from the nearest opening -- I can only see them by holding a camera way back in the bilge.
