Resealing Deck Seams Pursuit 2870

Postby medelman2k » Sat Apr 07, 2018 1:31 pm

Hi, I have quite a few deck seams on my Pursuit 2870 that I need to redo. I wondered if I could get some advice on what material to use. I have reviewed the boat life site and I am pretty sure I need to use some bond breaker backer, but what sealant should I use? Boat Life Silicone rubber Sealer? LIFESEAL?

Any ideas what they used at the factory? Any suggestions on removing the old seal and replacing it would be really appreciated.

Are these deck seams that need to be easily removed in the future? If not I would use 5200.

I have a 1999 2460 Denali which needs all, if not most of the caulking on the deck seams replaced as well. Most have mold spots and look unsightly. What should I use so this doesn’t happen again. I also need to access the bilge do to gel coat separation condition. Is it easy to remove the flooring acccess panel and replace it once repaired. I’m new to boating and could really appreciate some solid advice. Thanks in advance!

I just removed my fuel tank access/deck and it was easy on my 1997 2870. You will need to use a bond breaker of some sort to clean the old caulk off and prep for new caulk. I would use 3m 4200 medium hold in the screw holes and to fill seam gap in deck hatch
Good luck
Chris
