Keeping busy on the boat!

Postby MarkT » Mon Sep 11, 2017 8:49 pm

Well another summer is just about over, we did a lot of upgrades on the boat, with more to come. Last year I installed a new Ray C127, a Ray60 VHF and the Quantum radar. I like the system but had to send the radar back this spring. It had a problem when I upgraded it via WiFi. One thing I learned when they sent it back was they want the radar unit to have its own on/off switch. So I installed a new bank of Contura switches with a double USB charging port in it, It works great and being able to charge a device has made many of the crew happy. I now have separate switches for the radar, vhf, MFD and the electric compass. I have two switches as spares but I plan on installing a FLIR unit this winter. They are on sale now and the price has come down about $500 for the FLIR M232. You also get a handheld FLIR unit with a qualifying purchase.
I also installed a grab handle on the transom after a guest grab the transom door while coming aboard from swimming and ripped the latch off. There never was a handle there, but should have been from day one. I think later versions had one. Since the handle had to go where the name was, I took off the old letters and installed new after the handle was on. Interesting thing, I found that flagpole in a marsh about 20 years or so ago.
I installed a flag pole holder and Old Glory flies proudly!

I will attach pics when the board lets me.
