Pursuit 3000 Express Helm Seat

Has anyone done anything to their helm seat to stop the slide release lever from poking them in the back of the leg? Or replaced their helm chair? It drives me nuts the way that lever pokes me sometimes!

You can cut it shorter and still operate the release lever
