Fischer Panda 5k generator

we bought a used 2016 Pursuit OS 325 Offshore and love it. When we had the survey done the generator had to be replaced, so a new Fischer Panda 5k generator was put in back in April 2024. We maybe clocked 6-8 hours of use during the early summer, and then just stopped working. We had a certified Fischer Panda tech come and look and stated that there is significant water damage and rust to the backend of the unit AND that it has like 14 hours of use. Fischer Panda says it is NOT covered under warranty!! very disappointing!! The mechanic, on top of having to replace the backend, is recommending that we....
"Do to how this generator was installed by Pursuit, we would suggest to do the following, to help prevent this from happening again, no matter what generator would be installed here in the bilge. Fabricate and install a divider (Splash guard) in front of the generator, across the bilge area. Add a bilge pump in front of divider."

Asking for any advise if this seems legit or the right thing to do?

Did your bilge get flooded? Does not sound legit
