Teak Wood

Was looking at an easier way to maintain the Teak on my '87 Pursuit CC.

It always seems to darken up way to fast for my liking and is a pain to restore continually. So I found this website and it seems to have some great info.

TEAK CARE

I have pressure washed my Teak a few times, but have always been real careful not to dig into the Teak. So after I cleaned it up real good, I let it dry for a few days. Then followed his steps in using the Sealers.

I used this Thompson's Water Seal as it has UV protection in it.


I put in on real wet and it is now soaking in.

You can see on the left where I put the Thompson's and on the right where it is still untreated.

Now to see if it holds up better than plain Teak Oil treatment. I suspect it is the oil that turns dark over time and not the wood. Since the darkness is cleaned off with I remove the top coat of oil. Time will now tell though.

Looks great, Mark. I know some people that use the Thompsons Water Seal on canvas enclosures as well.

I was wondering how the Thompsons has held up? I am refinishing the teak on my boat this week and would love to find a way to keep it looking good for a bit longer than before.
