3000 Express Alternator/Gauge Voltage Issue
The port alternator has about an 1.5” diameter light blue capacitor(or so it appears) wired to the back. Not sure what this is or why it is there or if it could be the culprit. Batteries are a couple years old.
Weird thing is the other day while out volt gauge on port motor showed 11volts maybe a little less and the engine started like a fully charged battery.
Going to get some pictures soon I hope of capacitor but very difficult to get back there as many of you know. And also see if I can jumper past some ground cables to find one as the culprit of major voltage drop going into the battery switch.

You aren’t kidding there. I was thinking a 250$ alternator and was able to fix it with 25$ worth of wires and connectors. Fishing this afternoon I think and running charters this weekend.
