Bow eye repair

The bow eye on mt 2001 express 3000 is pulling thru. What is the hull construction in this area fpr my Pursuit? Can I get away with just doing enough fiberglass work to fill in the damaged area and then install a lager backing plate for the bow eye? Thanks in advance for any suggestions
