PURSUIT BOATS SOLD ME A $500K LEMON — HIDING A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW
Let me be blunt: Pursuit Boats is deceiving customers. They’re selling high-end boats with serious design defects and lying about what’s actually installed on board.
In 2024, I bought a brand-new Pursuit model — $500,000 — expecting the kind of quality you’d get from Grady White or Boston Whaler. Pursuit claims they’re in the same league. They are NOT.
In eight months, my boat was leaking hydraulic fluid. A dealer inspection uncovered severe galvanic corrosion on the outboards. First, they tried to blame the marina. So, I paid (out of pocket) to have the marina and the boat professionally tested.
The results were crystal clear: THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE BOAT.
Turns out, Pursuit secretly made a design change. They removed the galvanic isolator — which protects your boat from corrosion when connected to shore power — and replaced it with an ELCI, which does absolutely NOTHING to stop galvanic corrosion.
Here’s what makes it worse:
• The owner’s manual STILL says my boat has a galvanic isolator.
• The dealer had NO idea the design had changed.
• Pursuit wrote me saying they’d “install a better isolation transformer” — but they knew damn well they never installed one in the first place.
This wasn’t a mistake. This was intentional, undisclosed, and fraudulent.
Now they’ve admitted fault — but are dragging their feet on repairs, telling me it’ll take up to 6+ months to fix. Meanwhile, I’m stuck with a six-figure boat that’s literally rotting in place.
Let me be clear: Pursuit Boats sold me a product that is not safe to use in the water. They failed to meet industry standards. They failed to disclose major design changes. And they are failing to take accountability in a meaningful way.
If you own a Pursuit — check your electrical system. You may be at risk and not even know it.
If you're thinking about buying one — DON’T. Not until Pursuit comes clean and fixes this mess.
I’m calling this out publicly because I believe there are many more boaters in the same situation, and most have no idea. This may very well be grounds for a class action lawsuit, and I’m ready to talk to anyone who’s had a similar experience.

I had same problem in one engine, totally destroyed lower unit case, I bought from Yamaha origina case and transferred the elements to the new case. i did not want to wait moths waiting for Pursuit to fix it, I also got a galvanic isolator from Amazon for around 300.00 buck, waiting for electrician to instal it. The case cost was with requirement seals was around 3000.00, marina wanted to charge me 18000.00 to replace the whole unit
