Best Props for OS 315

Postby Flying Fox » Wed May 23, 2018 12:58 pm

I have a 2009 OS315 with Yahamha 250s. The original (and current props are Saltwater II 15 ¼ x 19. The issue is poor acceleration. Once on plane the boat performs well with a max RPM of 6100 and a speed of 46 mph. Getting onn plane, the engines scream with little acceleration until reaching about 24 MPH, at which point the props seem to grab. Pursuit says the optimum prop for the 315 is a SW II SDS 15 ½ x 17. Before I order new props, I was hoping to hear from anyone who has experience with a 315 and the “optimum” props.

Love to know what you find here. I have the exact same boat ('08) and have the same issues. I had reached out to prop gods and here's what Ken suggested:
I'd go with Powertech OFS4's in 17 pitch and expect low to mid 40's for top end speed.
I haven't wanted to try it out but may end up giving it a go.

I have the same boat 2009 with the same motors. My props are 4 blade but don’t know the size and pitch. I’ ll Get back to you with that info. When trying to plane my engines don’t rev up as you explane yours do. But when coming down wind in 4-5 waves the engines rev up like crazy, in that case I need to go fast.

thank you so much. Being they are power tech I think they are 15.25 dia. The Rev 4 prop from mercury is 14 7/8 or something like that. I had the same prop in 18 pitch on my last boat (Scout Abaco 280) and had good luck with them. The only difference I have on my Pursuit 315 is that I have the F300's but was thinking the 17 or maybe 16 as I turn 55-5600 with 3 blade power tech 18s now. So assume you are happy with the performance and would buy the same set up again? Thanks much, Jo

Well honestly I can’t compare props because I bought the boat recently with those props. But because I have 250’s I think those are the props to have for me. On The 300’s I wouldn’t know.

Do you guys have the original swim up ladder on your 315. It is very difficult to get up. It only has 3 steps and once you put your weight on it it wants to go under the transom. Have you herd of someone fixing this problem?

The ladder does not work well on the trailer either and need to bring a ladder with me whenever I want to board. Not sure how to fix it other than installing a garlick sp? swim ladder like I had on my last boat. That worked well even with Scuba tanks on and on the trailer.
