But I still felt the deck could use a bit more support up there, so I set about designing a template to make it happen. It is a composite design, made of a base of starboard and an aluminum top which would be powder coated once I am sure it fits correctly. The front of it is bolted to the aft end of the stainless steel frame in the bow pulpit. Both the cleat and the windlass then mount on top of it and are through bolted like the original installation, with backing plates.

Deck guard for windlass support and deck protection
Im looking into purchasing the 1999 Pursuit 3000 express with cummins as well. Survey showed saturation in the same area along with some around the small starboard hatch above the cabin. Surveyor says its something he sees on many Pursuits and that its not the end of the world if you are willing to live with it. Hulls are clean. Whats your opinion here? Anything else specifically I should look at/for? This thread is exactly what I was worried about, support for the windlass
