3000 express hatch extensions

Postby bobbruce » Sun Feb 09, 2020 11:05 am

Guys i have made two 10 inch ling one inch diameter copper pipe extensions for my engine hatch actuators. I have also made up two wood blocks to support the hatch while i disconnect the actuators, run them down then add the extensions. This gives you so much more room to do work in front of the engines. Drill half inch holes sideways thru copper pipe to accept the pins. Make sure the helm seat is all the way back!!!!!!! Go up slow, check all clearances to helm and companion way. To take them out ,lower on to blocks remove pins remove extensions, raise actuators, reinstall pins raise hatch remove blocks.

Great idea Bob, do you have pictures of how you did this and show how much more room you have?

The wood blocks are pointed on bottom and grooved ontop to hold in place till the actuators are added to or taken away from. Look how close the L shaped seat and helm seat get......

Wow that is some change. My actuators are mounted opposite from yours, the motor is on the bottom. I will certainly look into it this spring. I had already looked into multiple stage actuators if mine fail.
