Nie trip, here's to many more!!
That mess on the floor of the boat are Chironomidae an aquatic insect native to Ohio, Lake Erie and most of the Great Lakes basin. They hatch in huge numbers in late spring all along the shore of Lake Erie. Common names are muffleheads, muckleheads, midges and canadian soldiers.

Mark sorry I missed your message but Diver is right. I call them muffleheads. That was the worst hatch I have ever been in that day. Almost cost me my autopilot because I was hosing everything and ended up with water inside the head unit. Luckily it dried out and is working again.

Here are some more pictures from the weekend....
Sunday we left the dock at 600am and tied back up at 915am with 36 walleye plus an extra that went back
