Cable Routing Question

Postby Kismet » Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:47 am

I have a recently acquired 2015 OS 385 that I would like to fit with an LED engine room light and connected to one of the accessory switches on the Dash Switch Panel. I have the wiring diagram that shows the wire color code for the switch and connector color/number for the switch power lead that goes back to the DC Panel, but need some advice on how to run the power cable back to the AFT Bilge from the Helm Pod. I assume that I need to run a two-conductor cable from the switch panel back to the AFT Bilge. Any advice on the best way to get the cable into that area will be appreciated.

As far as I can tell, the only conduit to the AFT Bilge runs along the Port-side battery compartment that routes the main engine battery cables.

Many thanks for any help!

Cable Routing Question

Postby Kismet » Wed Mar 17, 2021 9:16 am

Mystery solved. The Engine Room Light circuit is pre-wired from the 5 AMP breaker on the DC Panel labeled: "Mach Space". It's run to the aft bilge: 14 AWG Blue (+) and Yellow (-). The circuit plugged and zip-tied to a wire loom above the fuel/water separators on the port-side bulkead in the aft bilge.

That circuit is hot when the House Battery Switch is turned on, but plugged with a blank connector end. The Engine Room light, when connected to that circuit, must either have its on ON/OFF switch or one must be installed with the light, as none of the Accessory Switches are wired to that breaker.
