decisions, decisions...

Postby grodywhite » Sat Nov 20, 2010 10:13 pm

for quite a few months now i've had my eyes on pursuits and am very likely to get something before the next boating season starts up north. it will be either a 2460 or 2470 model, age bracket 1999 to 2002.
since these boats represent two different layouts and two different drive configurations i'd like to hear the pros and cons of each from any of you pursuit owners.

now then, my confession is that i've never even seen one of those boats live and in color so there's a pitfall right there. i've been on a 2260 and liked it well enough but there is obviously a difference between the two classes of boat.

questions i'm hoping ya'll might be able to help with:
2460 Denali - cuddy cabin interior headroom. do you find it sufficient for a guy who's 5'9"? do you owners have to crawl and deep crouch to get in and out?
Denali engine access - is basic and advanced engine maintenance hindered by difficult access? do the risers come out easily? starter motor perhaps? which outdrive has proven to be more reliable? do these engines/outdrives have consistant issues?

on to the 2470 -
cuddy cabin size - plus's and minus's ....buhler??? buhler???
engine size and model. i have to admit, reading the threads on the hull truth about this age of outboard engine of any model is scaring the crap outta me. yammies have exhaust corrosion issues, fichts blow up, mercs...fuggedaboudit...
so please, enlighten me kind people. this would be my second boat, first ever outboard. what works for you? how expensive has it been to keep your outboard running and reliable?

a bit about me....long time boater, currently have my first boat which is an old '72 grady marlin 20 footer. it's not called the grodywhite without good reason. i gutted the boat down to the bare hull and rebuilt it. new engine, rebuilt the omc electric shift i/o, electrics, you name it, i either chose to or had to repair/rebuild/replace it. so after all of this, i'd like a boat that i can count on to do more boating and less fixing. i really like the layouts of the pursuits and expect them to be every bit as versitile as the boat i rebuilt for myself. only larger, newer, faster, and let's face it, more reliable.

thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions!
