Outriggers for 3000 Express

Postby Hooked » Thu May 09, 2019 6:12 am

Last fall I purchased a 1998 3000 Express with a hardtop. In the next year or two I'd like to add out riggers to it. My question is dies anyone have pictures of their Express with outriggers on that I could see to get an idea of different styles and mounting options. I want to stay away from the "t-tops", and ideally have the outriggers lay as flat as possible when fishing. Thanks in advance.

In still learning my boat and seem to have troubles getting down to a decent trolling speed for salmon/trout do you have any issue or do you run a sea bag to help slow down?

This is my first season on the boat, but I purchased from a buddy whom I fish with several times per year in tournaments on the boat for the previous 8 years (He is likely stepping up to a 38 Tiara). In general, one medium sized bag will slow us down enough, we generally run the bag on the opposite side of engine being used. If I need to slow down to 2.0 or below for lakers then a second bag is needed. I am generally running spoons and paddles and trolling at 2.5-2.7, the bag allows me to keep rpm's up and then back down to 2-2.2 when doing battle with a fish. What port are you out of?

What props are you running. I have a 2000 3000 express that I have trouble getting under 2.4-2.5 mph and here on Erie for walleye I need 1.5 early and late. I am running a single 60 or 72” bag on the side of the motor that is running. I have 19x21 props and I think that is part of why I can’t slow down enough.

Also do you have any issues with the water splashing up through your swim platform getting the rear deck wet with a following sea?
