1999 3000 express A/C raw water pump leak

Postby ropes » Sat Feb 04, 2012 2:40 am

I fould a second source of water in the bilge. the first being the HWT but the second was a drip I noticed from the A/C raw water intake pump. It is leaking where the intake comes in from the sea strainer. Can I just pull the cover and use some sort of silicone gasket material to seal this joint? After turning off the intake valve of course. The boat is a 1999 3000 express.

Not sure what joint you are talking about Chris. The cover has an o-ring on it. To seal the piping the right way to do it is to pull the pipe out and add sealant to the threads.

Mark, It is a Taylormade elec pump that I believe circulates the raw water for the A/C. The leak is coming from the housing that receives the raw water pipe after the strainer. I will pull it apart sometime this week. As for the HWT I need to make some measurements to see if I can take it out. I have a feeling it wont come out without removing the deck.

1999 3000 express A/C raw water pump leak

One time I stepped on the a/c pump by accident and cracked the fitting on the bottom where you could not see it. You may also have a hairline crack. maybe you can cut the hwt out? Or maybe put a hatch under the seat above the tank and take it out there? Please let me know the solution.

Well good news. A tightening of four screws solved the A/C pump leak and a new pressure relief valve solved the HWT leak. Thank Goodness!! Found a new leak and will start a new thread with that one. Thanks for your input. Chris.
