Bow Pulpit/securing anchor

Postby bgjeff » Sat Dec 15, 2012 2:23 pm

hello, I have a 97 2470 cc. I am currently using the locker to stow the rode and light weight fortress achor. I want to utilize the pulpit but cant seem to keep the chain/anchor tight with the tensioner. with no center cleat how are others keeping chain/anchor rattle free and snug. BTW...I dont have a windlass. maybe I should get one...Jeff

Bow Pulpit/securing anchor

I have a 99 2470 and it does have a pupit and it also has a clete for anchoring. However I don't use it when I store the anchor, I use the tensioner, run the chain under the rubber hold down to secure the chain into the locker. Above that I wrap the chain in soft rubber hose secured by two Velcro straps to protect the deck. I had the fortress anchor but changed to the Lewmar plow anchor as the fortress was too straight for the pulpit and application. I also removed the the anchor hatch door as it swings the wrong way for fishing and multiple anchorings throughout the day. It's east to add the clete, as that pulpit is plenty strong to support one, but should be drilled through and bolted inside the locker.

in what direction does your anchor hatch door swing too? how do you like that lewmar plow anchor? does it hit the pulpit with its when it rocks side to side?

The anchor is great and fits that pulpit perfectly. The Lewmar cinch holds it snug so no rattle. I did add an additional roller to support the anchor. The hatch opened inward and was suspended and in the way during anchoring.
