345 OS engines

I am looking at buying a 345 OS. It would be for export out of the US so I can buy the boat with the Yam 350s or buy the boat and have twin 300 Verados put on it locally. My local Pursuit dealer is also a Mercury dealer and is firmly of the view that the Verados are big enough to compare favourably with the Yam 350s. I have my doubts. Any thoughts or views?

I don't have a lot of experience with the Mercs so my opinion may not hold much water, but those Yammy 350's are pretty damn good motors.

I have not ride the OS 345 with the Yamaha or Mercury. However, based on the performance figures in the Pursuit website, it takes the Yamaha v8's (which presumably have more low end torque than the inline 6 Mercury) more than 14 seconds to get to 30 MPH. I'm thinking maybe with the Mercury it may take longer. You may want to see Boston Whaler 34 performance numbers with Mercury as a comparable boat in the Whaler website. The Whaler has triples but it will give you a point of reference. My 2 cents. I hope this helps.
