03' 2665 Denali Water in the Hull

Postby jfaisten » Thu Apr 25, 2013 4:31 pm

Had my Pursuit surveyed today -- found 20% water in the hull in the area under the air intake -- on the stern, port side. Surveyor indicated this is a common issue with Pursuit. The Company does not waterproof the screws that are used to attach these vents to the hull (from the inside before the engine is dropped in). Rain water and water while running makes its way into these vents and leaks into the hull. Anyone ever hear of this before? Can it be fixed. The surveyor said the engine would have to be removed.

I have heard of this before in various Pursuit inboard and I/O models. It depends on how far down the water is. I believe if it is only down an inch or so it could be repaired by taking out the vent and then digging out the bad coring and replacing with epoxy. Any deeper and then it would have to be done from the inside. I have also heard of vents being broken when taken out so be careful if that is what has to be done.
