pursuit 2600 center console-inboard 454 damper problems
Anyone out there know really how difficult a job this really is? I know access is very tight but would it not be possible to disconnect shaft coupler and then raise/tilt motor off engine mounts to be able to remove tranny to access/replace damper?
I'm in marathon, florida keys and if anyone knows of capable experienced mechanic in this area pls let me know.
Thanks guys
Alan

Alan.
I have a 96 2600cc. At idle there is a rattle coming from transmission area. Previous owner says been there for years. Sound disappears as soon as transmission placed under any load. A couple of mechanics reckon it is a damper problem. Have had a couple of mechanics refuse to take on the job to investigate stating access so poor that would have to remove whole motor to access and check the damper ($2500+ for labor alone)
