Replace Mufflers on 3000 Pursuit

Postby Stockychuck » Wed May 02, 2012 2:34 pm

My marina has told me I have a leaking exhaust (and burned muffler). They said it probably came from overheating although I never had that happen. The boat is powered with Cummins Diesels. I am told the only way to access the muffler is to cut out the decking. Is this true ?

Replace Mufflers on 3000 Pursuit

Well Chuck, I have bad news for you. It is true. Do you have the 3000 express or offshore? Cummins 4 BTs or 6 BTs? I have a 3000 express and have done lots of work on her. My old Rampage you could unscrew the deck and lift it off. On the Pursuits, you will notice a smooth indentation going around the outer cockpit just inside the non-skid. It may as well say "cut here"! Please keep me posted. How many hours on the boat?

The boat is a 3000 offshore with Cummins 6BTs and 700 hours.

I don't think you can get to the mufflers through the hatches in the stern on that boat. I suggest that you contact Pursuit customer service first and ask them to be sure.

Mark
We just bought a 2002 3000 offshore.
Reviewing these posts to get up to speed on the forum, and wondered if you could reply with what you finally had to do to get your repair done??
Thanks,
tj
