Pursuit 3000 Offshore Owners Input

Postby Trpntj » Sun Aug 19, 2012 7:58 pm

Looking at performance, just went on a KAMD 44 powered Offshore. At 3600 RPM's this boat was doing 23-24 MPH in a lake. Are these numbers correct what do you guys get at cruise? Read a post of someone with KAMD 42's doing 28 mph cruise?????

The boat I was on seems incredibly slow, and way off from the performance reports posted by Pursuit in their archives. Boat would spin up to 3950 with a few mph increase. Bottom looked clean, it was in a lake and gets used a lot, so no barnacles.

Boat ran great and was well taken care of, no excessive smoking, made 16-18 lbs of boost at cruise, motors climbed right up to speed, no hesitation.

What gives? I want to buy the boat, but not if it's that slow, when people are saying their's cruise at 8mph more with 60 less hp????

Fuel was half a tank, two guys, no gear, full fresh water....

Thanks!

Tripper

Tripper sorry I this is to, late we have had ours but with KAMD42s and we run at 3200 rpm with an avg load and do about 28knots, but I have an express model, my friend has the same boat but with a tower and he runs 2 to 3 knots slower. I have both engines torn down by my mechanic, rebuilt injectors, new pulleys, and everything that needed to be done addressed. Did you check to see if you have the right size props and pitches, some people go nuts on them and then give up when they have lost it. Having the right props with Diesels as you know is a major speed factor. I hope you get this boat we love it and we are coming up on our 9th year with her.

Numbers from the Pursuit tests show 22.6 kts with 44s, about24 kts with the 42s. The boat with the 44s was about a ton heavier from fuel and water load. I would guess props and weight are a big influence on that boat.

22.6 kts at 3200, equals 26.1 mph. That is on the Pursuit web page under the boat models/ archive/ offshore/3000 Here is the link:
