And you also S/C. I saw that you said your boat does not handle well when docking without a lot of throttle. It sounds like your engines are propped correctly from the wot rpm, is your idle too low? I have a 99 3000 Express with Cummins and she handles like a dream without any throttle around the dock. In fact, even with less pitch and lowered idle it is fast at idle.
Have a great summer and be safe out there.

A year or so ago I had a similar problem, but both shafts were tight. Before I put the boat in for the season I pulled the shafts out and replaced the cutlass bearings in the struts. I found those bearings were in poor condition. If they have not been replaced yet I would do that. I did a bunch of other things that are way beyond that and it all helped. Now both shafts will spin with hardly any effort. I can go into more detail in a pm if you need.

Both cutlass bearings tight....when comming out of forward starboard side only shaft spins I can stop it by hand and will stay stop ....I will talk to my mechanic about that issue, my other problem is deceleratoin from 25kts to idle sounds like a airplane...thinking it might have something to do with drippless shafts....actualy sounds awsome but something going On.....

If you have the original Tides shaft seals it is past time to replace them. Not just the seals but the entire housing. Tides told me the original housing will fail. Call Tides directly and see if they have a deal like buy one get one. There is a thread on here about Show me your engines. If you find that you can see pictures of my engine room with the new housings etc.

Mark t, something puzzles me ......if your looking down @ the dripless seales both outboards hoses are hooked up to raw water . (pushing water to seals) and the inboard side of the port is derectly hooked up to the starboard....one big horse shoe with a hose on each end.. Thats telling me air is getting traped or the water can't flowing thru...
Im thinking removing the link between the seals and having them drain overboard ...that way no air and i can whatch the water flow out...

The hose between is there to provide water to one side should one engine fail. Unless you secure the shaft it will still rotate as you move on one engine. The running engine will supply water to that side also. It will supply water to both sides in the event the supply to one gets blocked. It is not a bad idea to check all hoses for supply while the boat is out and running. Air is not a problem it is pushed right out the shaft log.
