LED's installed....Everywhere:)

Here's the finished product of my RGB LED's. All this was bought off ebay, and I have about 150 bucks into it. Two 5 meter rolls of lights, with 1200 light chips total. It's super bright. I go through some epileptic inducing programs that are on the controller. You can control speed at which lights cycle and adjustable dimmer. This is the same stuff that cost hundreds from retailers, same exact controller with color wheel.

I need to resize some install photos before I post...

I think I seized while watching this!
Curious, how many amps are these lights drawing?

Well calculating for a full 5 meter roll it is ~6amps, when all three colors are energized to make white light. Each color R,G,B, draws 2 amps in the 5 meter roll. I know I had left over's from both rolls, but not much, maybe a foot from each, so mine when making white lights at full power ~<12amps, a single color 1/3 of that. When I use them normally, it's in all red color and at the lowest brightness setting...this would be probably make my total draw <2amps. At the dock when it's cleaning time, is full blast white... I have checked the controller after leaving it on all night and it's stays cool to the touch, no signs of heat at all, which I thought was rather weird. I expected at least a little warmth...but nothing.

Also my test, I have 2, 13.5v power supplies that are 2.5 amps rated and are very sensitive. When I tried to hook up 1 supply it would trip the breaker instantly. When I paralleled the two power supplies, I could run the 5 meter roll with out it tripping while I tested all the lights and features for a while.

Nice! It's interesting you were tripping the breaker with such a low draw. I have it in mind to add LEDs but on a much smaller scale!

That was bench testing at home with a 115v to 12v power supply box. Similar to this...http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103960

It wasn't a breaker on the boat.
