Removal and replace of cuddy hatch wa2470

Postby buckeye2 » Wed Jan 12, 2011 10:09 am

I have a leak in the cuddy hatch and wanted to remove the hatch and reset with new bedding caulk. It appears to be set in a sealant such as 3m 4200. Has anyone done this project and have suggestions on how to proceed.Buckeye2

Hi
I wouldn't remove the entire hatch, but seal the edge of it.I would assume that your foam or rubber gasket has dried up and that's why it leaks. If you;re handy and neat thin layer of 4200 that you spread with finger evenly around the edge should stop the leak

It's like opening the can of worms. Pursuit is using black caulk adhesive that is very hard to remove from the hatch entirely. So oncy you put it back it won't seat leveled anymore because of that.
If you'r leak is coming not from the edge than you need a new hatch.
I did this once and leak was stopped instantly.
