S280 Panel Light Switches won't illuminate...

Postby old cat » Mon Oct 21, 2013 9:55 pm

My helm panel switches all work except for the one labeled "Panel". All but this one light up when they are activated. Can't see which is which at nite. "Panel" switch doesn't do anything. Thoughts?

On my 2870 the panel switch turns on the lights inside all the switches at the helm plus turn on the engine gauge lights.

have you used a meter to see if there is 12 volts at the switch? on my 2870 each of those panel switches has a re-settable breaker encased in rubber just under in...maybe it is tripped

Thanks for the info. The breaker is not tripped. Now that I know it should light up the switches, I'll try to get a meter on it.

S280 Panel Light Switches won't illuminate...

I have a 250c and just replaced all of my switches and wiring. Each switch was individually back lit so you only saw what was turned on. Can't imagine the engineers at S2 would deviate from their basic philosophy but if you have a separate gauge panel, I could see the switch to have functionality. Check for water intrusion that may have gotten onto the wiring connections and you may only have to cut back the wires and make new connections. Otherwise, Pacer Marine Electric, in Fort Lauderdale Florida sells replacement OEM switches and the respective labeled covers, just in case you want to personalize your dash panel.
