water collecting in forword bildge

Postby aftershock » Thu Mar 13, 2014 9:45 am

I have a 2006 25' O/S water seems to collect in front part of bildge. Sometimes its maybe a couple
gallons never enough to set off forward bildge pump. I sponge it out and it comes back. It is salt water
so its entering from somewhere just cant figure from where. Other puzzling thing is why only certain
amount I would think if its from a fitting it would continue until it was high enough top set off bildge pump.
Just wanting to know if anyone has similar problem, or any suggestions what may be causing this.
Thanks

I had a leaking macerator that cause me to collect some water in forward bilge. The pump housing bolts had corroded off and it leaked when the sea cock was open.

I have a 2460 denali with the water in the forward bilge. Not a lot but enough to annoy me. Has any one replaced the fresh water hose for the head to see if that is the source?

Think I may have solved problem, I believe water was coming in from forward bilge pump in rough water. I attached a hose to forward bilge outlet and when water was applied
it came out through the bilge pump itself. So I installed a check valve in discharge hose so water couldn't reverse. So far I don't seem to collect near the amount of water.
But thanks for the response trpnti I will check bolts also.

Rich the water that is collecting is saltwater, Thought I had fixed problem with check valve in bilge discharge
hose. But went out past weekend seas were 2 to 3 and it seemed to appear again about two gallons. Only seems to happen in rougher seas. Anyone with the 2570 Offshore have the same problem? Now wondering if it may be seeping in
through anchor locker or maybe rub rail.

Found my scupper leaking when boat rocks and it goes under water or when on plane, water must be splashing up and in where scupper is supposed to be sealed to hull. When I come off plane the bow goes down and water travels forward to front bilge area.

I have a 2001 3070 and have the same problem with fresh and salt water so I have two separate problems. The fresh water must be wash down water and leaking in to the bilge from the deck drains. The plumbing is also connected to the fish box seal pickup and the helm seal pick up and I have flush both but can not find the problem

I recently purchased a 2008 255 OS and have noticed the same problem of water in the forward bilge when I opened the access panel in the cabin to turn on the water intake for the head. There is not much, in fact so little that the bilge pump does not remove it even when I turn it on manually. I have no clue where it is coming from and wondered if you had any further feedback since your initial post. Is it just something that we need to live with?

Thanks.

Kochmo I still haven't resolved the problem. Have you had any lucky finding where the water may
be coming from. Thanks
