I just upgraded to a 2001 2470. It has a head which is a first for me. I am hoping someone with the same system can walk me through proper function and maintenance - either thru this forum or by phone call. Would be much appreciated.

What type of head do you have? Holding tank w/macerator pump out?

I keep a gal of fresh water next to head. Have valve set to dry flush. When using, pour a little into bowl for partial fill. When finished, pump valve to empty into holding tank. I have found this method keeps odor and stains down over using seawater to flush. When I go offshore to troll, I'll discharge holding tank when level is up. Then I pour a little holding tank waste and odor control (many diff brands) into head and flush, to prep holding tank for next fill. Granddaughters use it the most, so I've got them trained pretty good!

I have the same set up. Can you please explain the Y valve options? Does one setting allow for macerator discharge, and the other for it to be vacuumed out at a pump out station? Or does one setting just have the waste go immediately into the ocean?

John, the y valve allows the macerator to pump out the holding tank and discharge it overboard. If the y valve is turned the other way it allows the holding tank to be pumped out through the deck fitting. If you are in a no discharge zone and get boarded by law enforcement that fitting had better be set for deck pompous and the thru hull should be wired closed.
